2013 was a record breaking year for commercial real estate sales in Charleston, SC. Total property sale were over $540 million, a 21% increase in sales from the previous record breaking year in 2012.

Apartment communities were the top selling properties, with $140 million in sales overall. Shopping centers will also big sellers. In total, ten different shopping centers were purchased and sold. The top seller among them was the 180,000-square-foot property of Freshfields Village. It brought in nearly $60 million on its own. 

Rounding out the top commercial real estate sales were office buildings and hotels. The sale of office buildings throughout the city brought in $82 million while hotel sales double in the past year bringing in $62 million, in 2013.
